Chapter 2

" James there's a baby in there somewhere she's the only survivor. Get to her before she dies." a firefighter shouted in fear

James couldn't see through the red and orange flames it was too bright.

" I'm going in this room she might be in here." James shouted to his partner

As the scared firefighter entered the room, he turned pale. What he saw was so confusing. He saw a woman singing to a baby.

" Ma'am, we're gonna need to get you out of here along with your baby." James said reaching out his hand

" She's not my baby her parents died not too long ago, excuse me where am I?" the woman asked patting the baby's back softly

" You’re in an apartment on Rose Street." James replied slowly

" No I mean what planet is this, am I still at Flames?" the woman asked getting up

" No your on Earth, look lady I don't know what's wrong........" James started

" Shh, I have no time to explain but you need to take this baby. Her life is at hand. This baby is Princess Pyra of Flames she holds the Phoenix. You may not understand this but as I said I have no time to explain." the woman said crying then disappeared

James didn’t have any time to think about what just happened because the ceiling fell. So he ran through the fire as quick as he could and ran down the steps out the front door. As James ran out of the house, it fell behind him.

His colleagues applauded him back at the fire station.

" Hey J, what are you gonna do with that baby? I mean it's weird the medics said nothing was wrong with her and there was a lot of smoke in there, strange huh?" Koby, James closest friend asked

" Yeah, I guess I'll keep her for the night I need to get home that was some crazy stuff back there." James replied chuckling

" Well see you tomorrow hopefully." Koby said walking back inside the building

James went to his car and put the baby in the car seat where his old daughter used to sit. James started to cry and started to remember the first time he took his daughter to work to show everyone his new born Lily.

" Pyra what a name we'll change it to Lily if that's okay with you?" James asked softly

The baby started to smile and you could tell she felt right at home.

" James where's the baby?" Haley, James wife asked as he walked in the kitchen

" I put her in the basket in the livingroom she's sleeping." James replied squinting in pain

" Here go sit down. I'll be in to fix your supper." Haley said going into the living room

Haley scooped up the baby carefully and looked at it mournfully.

" What's this James?" Haley said looking at the necklace around the young Pyra's neck

" It must be some kind of necklace that her parents gave her. When I rescued her there was a woman she said the baby's name was Pyra and that she was a princess of Flames a planet far from here." James started

" Well did the woman get out maybe we could find her and...." Haley started to say

" But the weird thing is, she disappeared before I could ask her anything and the baby she seemed so immune to fire and so did the woman it was strange." James said wobbling into the living room

" She disappeared what that's not possible." Haley said confused

" I know that's why we have to destroy this necklace and change the baby's name and we have to keep her there's no telling what we're dealing with here." James said firmly

" We can't destroy this necklace I mean maybe we can learn something from it and until then I'll keep it in the safe in our room." Haley said rocking the baby back and forth

" Pyra what a strange name! It sorta sounds like Pyro., which means fire. Well anyway that's not a name for a baby . So let's name her Lily it's a beautiful name that's perfect for a little girl." James said with a smile

" James no......" Haley started sadly

" I know Hal but she reminds me so much of Lily she has her smile and it feels like she lives again." James said brightly

" Okay but do you think she'll ever find out that's she's not ours when she's older?" Haley asked sadly

" I hope not it would be too painful now let's get ready for bed I'm beat." James said yawning

That night while Pyra lye asleep in her crib the spirit dragon visited her.

" Great Phoenix give this Fairy of Flames the gift of memory

Let her return home when the time is right

And guide her to thy light." The dragon chanted touching Pyra's forehead

Sixteen years later Lily grew up to be an adventurous red head with a big mind. But she always got visions that scared and confused her. Lily tried to fight them but they only grew stronger. When she tried to piece together the visions they only fell apart.

" Mom can I go to a private school or be home schooled because I can't stand Vanna any longer." Lily said with a puppy face

" No dear we're happy just where you are." Haley said looking at James

" I just feel like I don't belong like I need to be somewhere else." Lily said brightly

" You belong here and you always will Py er uh Lily." James stammered

" Oh look, at the time I don't want to be late for school again by mom by dad." Lily said rushing out the door

Lily got on her bike and rode down the street toward Rose Street.

" Hey Ketchup head where's your wheels?" Vanna said pulling up beside Lily on her bike

" Vanna, get lost." Lily said angrily

" Oh I forgot you don't have any wheels." Vanna said laughing speeding off

" I wish she would treat me like I was invisible." Lily said to herself

Ever since pre-school Vanna was mean to her because everything she touched caught on fire. Since then Vanna called her the Freak of the Week. Lily never knew why that happened but she never got the heart to ask her parents.

As Lily passed Rose Street, she started to hear a song in her head.

"Rock-a-bye Princess on her throne

When you're old enough you'll be on your own

To rule the Phoenix

So sleep my little princess soon you'll have what you wish "

It was a song she heard millions of times in her head but she couldn't piece it together with other images in her head.

Lily pulled up to the bike rack at Valley High and locked her bike to the pole.

" She really showed up to school again. You'd think she'd skip town and go live with the circus." a girl whispered to Vanna they both laughed

Lily ignored them and ran up the steps past the crowd of eyes looking at her. She sat in the principal's office and waited for the bell to first period to ring and then left without bothering to ask for a late note.

First period was always a bummer on Thursdays because first period was gym. They always played volleyball and no one wanted her on their team. So as usual she was score-keeper. The game was almost over but even though Lily didn't do anything except keep the score she felt so weak and exhausted. Then she fainted.

" No, No, No!" Lily screamed tossing and turning

" Lily, your home." Haley said smoothing Lily's hair

" Mom I don't belong here I have to go these images are coming back to me I...I Lily started

" Look, this is yours." Haley said handing Lily the necklace that she had when she was a child

Lily started to remember;

" I was at this place surrounded by people but I don't know who they are. They were having this feast and a man placed this necklace around me. Then I remember someone taking me away from them like something was wrong. Then I was in this room with fire and a woman was singing to me what, does all this mean?" Lily asked in fear

" Lily I don't know where you came from but I saved you from a burning building. You were inside it with a woman and she was singing. I took you only hoping you would replace our dead daughter Lily and your name is..is Pyra not Lily." James said sadly

" What am I?" Lily asked through heavy tears

" We don't know but we were hoping you would remember." Haley said softly

" I remember a dragon he visited me in my sleep he said something about....." Lily started

" Yes dear?" Haley asked nicely

" I'm a fairy." Lily said like it was a bad taste in her mouth

" Dear it probably was just a bad dream and maybe you need some rest right dear?" Haley asked brightly looking at James

" No mom, I feel deep down inside when I'm angry or excited the fire burning inside of me gives me wings. This makes me feel unique mom .I believe I am a fairy and maybe this necklace will help me I don't know but I just don't belong here I need to find my real parents." Lily said hopefully

" What can you remember between the time you were with these people and with that woman in that building?" James asked taking Lily's hand

Lily closed her eyes and revisited her thoughts over and over again but then she saw her as a baby and realized who she was. Then she opened her eyes and said

" I am Princess Pyra of Flames and I am the guardian of the Phoenix."

Just then the necklace in her hand began to glow and a portal began to open. Lily got up and walked toward it feeling it was safe and knowing it was she stepped forward.

" Wait Lily or uh Pyra we're going with you we can't let you get hurt." James said firmly

" Okay dad," Lily said as they all stepped into the portal

Lily was transported to a forest bright and deserted her parents weren’t there though.

" Mom? Dad? " Lily called in fear

When Lily didn't get an answer Lily wandered off into the distance hoping she'd find her parents.

" I wonder where I am." Lily said aloud

Then she heard a growling sound behind her and looked around to see a devil-like, monster about to tackle her.

" Oh no! What do I do?" Lily asked herself in fear

Lily put her arm over her eyes and put her other arm out in front of her. Then the snarling and growling stopped. She looked down at her hand to see fire coming out of her hands.

Without worrying about what just happened Lily continued on with her journey. Then, as she climbed the hill, a monster as big as a skyscraper came into her path. She threw every bit of fire she could at the beast until she grew weak and passed out.

When she awoke a guy with blue eyes and purplish-blue hair was looking at her.

" Are you okay?" the guy asked

" Yeah, who are you and where am I?" Lily asked

" My name is Moon and your in Fearing Forest." The guy replied" Might I ask what your name is?"

Lily started to say Pyra but then she remembered James holding her and he said " Pyra what a name we'll change it to Lily if that's okay with you?"

And she remembered she smiled when he said that name.

" My name’s Lily." I replied with a smile

" So what were you doing taking on a big monster like that one?" Moon asked

" Well it just came into my path I didn't know what to do." Lily replied

" You could have flown away." Moon said

" I'm sorry but I really don't know how to fly. I really don't know where I am or what I am for that matter. I just know that I'm from Flames at least that's what I remember." Lily said slowly

" Your from Flames that's impossible the whole planet is stone." Moon said confused

Lily started to remember the lady with long white hair saying Stonus Eternis and turning the whole palace into stone.

" Listen Moon is everyone dead at Flames?" Lily asked

" No they turned into to spirits and they're waiting for the return of their Princess, Pyra." Moon replied

" Listen I really should be going I have to save my parents I don't know where they are and..." Lily started

" Well, well, well Prince Moon talking to some weakling fairy and not talking to my daughter." a tall blue woman said angrily

" Look Queen Aquan I'm not ready to get married I'm young I still want to explore the world." Moon said

" Look we just met and........" Lily started

" Silence! Then if you just met then you don't have to remember each other. I'll just escort you and your parents to Eria and you Moon back home to Skylark. And you will see Aris before you see this low life again." Queen Aquan said evilly

" But I told you once I don't want to be married and I don't care if it's arranged." Moon said angrily

" Ereses Timus." Queen Aquan said

Lily appeared in front of a building along with her parents. Feeling as if walking through that portal led her there.

" Where are we?" Lily asked looking around

" Maybe those girls over there can tell you." James said pointing to the three girls standing there talking

" Hey what's your name?" a girl with long yellow hair asked

" My name is Lily, what's yours?" Lily asked

" I'm Elle and this is Florale and Song." the girl said

" So where are we anyway?" Lily asked

" Lily, I'm Erigone, the head fairy of Eria welcome to Syrel." A woman with white hair said

" Thank you." Lily replied

" Lily . . . " Haley called

" Coming mom." Lily said running over toward her

" Honey I really am so proud of you. You may have found, where you belong, and I really hope you never forget us and keep us in your thoughts because we'll be thinking of you every day." Haley said crying

" I won't see you again?" Lily asked sadly

" I don't know but in the mean time we want you to stay here you've found where you belong and we're really happy for you." James said hugging Lily

Lily hugged Haley and James goodbye and watched them step into the portal and then she really saw how badly they were going to miss her but they really were happy that she found where she belongs.

" Don't worry Lily you'll see them again someday until then I think you'll like it here." Erigone said brightly

" I hope so.'' I replied

As they walked to find their rooms, Elle couldn't stop talking.

" So aren't you from around here?" Elle asked

" No I'm from Earth surprisingly." I replied

" What? How?" Elle asked excitedly

" I'll tell you later." I said

" What if I'm dead later then what would you do?" Elle asked playfully

" What a drama queen." Song said

" Oh well! There's only two rooms, left so two will have to share a room." Erigone said

" Well I guess I'll share a room with Lily." Elle said excitedly

" Not so fast young ladies, Eris Copedibus." Erigone said" You two aren't compatible so Florale you'll be sharing a room with Lily, and Song you'll be sharing a room with Elle."

" What do you mean we're not compatible?" Elle said angrily

" Well you and Song love to talk and gossip and Florale and Lily are more of the quiet type." Erigone replied

" But me and Song don't even get along Miss Erigone." Elle whined

" Look at the time? I have to get going." Erigone said leaving

" Well I guess we'll take this room." Lily said walking into the room

" As soon as you get done with your room we're going shopping." Elle said

" Shopping?" Lily said confused

" Well, of course! How else can we gonna get clothes?" Elle replied

Lily and Florale got settled into their room and sat quietly waiting for Song and Elle to come over.

" So you said you were from Earth." Florale said meaning it as a question

" Yes I was sent there when I was a baby that's all I remember." Lily said sadly

" Okay I'm ready to go." Elle said brightly storming into the room

Lily and her friends went outside and walked down the path to the gate.

" Where exactly are we going?" Lily asked

" We're going to Downtown Syrel to go shopping it's the best place to shop." Elle said

A floating bus pulled up in front of them and the door opened. The girls got on and took a seat in the back.

" This is just like on Earth except the buses don't fly and there is a person actually driving the bus." Lily said
